the 'Newcastle pie Wagon' played the Brisbane Halibut tourney on the weekend, they were seeded 3rd in a field of 16 teams from Adelaide, Melbourne, Armidale, Townsville, Gold Coast, Byron Bay and Brissy.
The Pie Wagon won the tourney and spirit of the game- this is 'the magic double' of ultimate, and as tim lavis says "it proves spirit doesn't have to be won by the chumps"
This is the 2nd 'magic double' by Newcastle in recent times, the team 'Wreakin Havoc' winning Mixed nats and spirit in Ballarat last year.

Sunday Quarter-final: d. Townsville 15-6
Semi-final: d. Mind the Gap 15-6

Selections for Steel City Blues (Newcastle Uni- Aug 25-26th) and Mixed Nats (West Sydney- Oct 5-7th) are still to be decided, and it will be great to see some new pies in the oven- so sharpen those cleats for the two tourneys ahead.
