Is it just me or have the field owners/managers gotten soft over the last couple years?
I remember back 'in the good old days' playing Ulti in raging storms many times! Granted we're not keen playing with lightning around, but generally we'll play in any other weather, however these days league games are called off with 3 spots of a sun shower!
Are field owners/managers more sensible now, or are they just soft??
Good question Coops. Yes, field owners are more sensitive 'these days'. I think there's two reason for this. a) The Drought greatly increased sports club's attention to groundskeeping, and greatly increased their knowledge of it. Hence, they're more likely to be willing to put the long term over the short term. b) The usage/pressure on fields is growing. To take Annerley for example, the soccer club carries at least four more women's soccer teams, and two more men's soccer teams (I think the Juniors have stayed roughly the same), than when Ultimate started being played there five or so years ago.
