BPL 2010-1 Round 8 Draw

The UQ derby is on. We took it off the draw as there was discussion surrounding it not being on, and we mistakenly took it for fact.
All tips posted via the initial post have been copied into the comments section and will remain valid until updated by the various tipsters.

It's going to be total chaos this week!!!

Dojo is missing 3 to Firestorm, with quite a few more unavailable, whilst Heroes stars Jangles and George say they're quite likely to play. Well Jangles does at least - no comment from Silent George. Could there be an upset there or even a Dojo forfeit???

More than half the Cobras team have nationals commitments, compared to the lightly-taxed SFC. Ah but those Nationals-bound SFC players are also big keys to their success! Cobras have more depth, but will anyone turn up??? Talk to me Wetnose.

And wow the UQ matchup is going to be more or less impossible to pick (glad it's happening though). I'd be astonished if JMac actually plays that game, being the ultra-hardcore conditioning coach that he is. Julz will also take any opportunity to slack off (see his recent comments on this blog).

On the other hand you've got Lovers with Buzz & aL who are the two most indestructible players I know, and who I'm guessing will be quite likely to play.

Okay - I've talked myself into it:

Stef, how did that showcase game go? Are you going to write something up for it? I would like to hear about it!

Sadly, I predict a rain-out.

Otherwise, I'd better get the Heroes stats up.

So since I can't seem to comment on the heroes blog for some reason, wrt to the rules of a travel I figured you'd read this blog as well. Dragging your foot during the throwing motion is a travel. As you are not maintaining an established pivot point. A pivot point is a "certain spot" as shown in:

18.2.4. The thrower may change direction (“pivot”) only by establishing a “pivot point”,
where one part of their body remains in constant contact with a certain spot on
the playing field, called the “pivot point”.

Pete, Wetnose, et al.

Disclaimer: The views of Carl (blog-spammer) do not necessarily reflect the wider views of the Heroes squad, and often leave me shaking my head.

This issue was settled in good spirits on the night, and I'm not sure why it has been brought up again.

Lovers are without Buzz and nathan.. Still tipping us, team loyalty dies hard..

And so it should aL. If you can't back yourself to win then why bother turning up?

Since team success is strongly associated with tipping success (for some more than others I might add), it would be interesting to do a subgroup analysis of everyone's tipping success in games not involving their own team. Considering the detail of stats wetnose came out with the other day, maybe this wouldnt be such a hard thing to do? what do you think wetty?

I also think final scores would be best indexed to the total number of rounds tipped, to reward people who tip more regularly than others. I know theres a minimum number that you have to tip, but that still doesnt stop people from strategically avoiding contentious rounds.

Wow I sound like Im taking this way too seriously...

Late change:

Julz I'm trusting you here. I'm also trusting aL that Buzz & Nat aren't going to be there...

Oh and thanks for leaving us all in the dark Wetnose. I can only assume you're too busy doing the in-depth statistical analysis that Julz requested?

I'm also going to switch my Lovers tip to a Passion tip.

Dojo, Cobras, Passion.

Oh Sensei, I'll give you the inside word on my team once I find out. Which, by the lack of sms responses I've had, will be at 730pm when I see who is standing next to me.

hmmmm.. What is it they say about multichoice questions.. SOmething along the lines of - never change your answer casue your gut instinct is probably right.. Lovers get another in the bag.. And the points table just gets more interesting..
